Effect of Irrigation and Herbicides on Most Tenacious Weed Cyperus rotundus in Wheat

To manage the Cyperus rotundus (Purple nut sedge.) is a troublesome, economically damaging weed, widely naturalized in tropical and subtropical regions of world. A field experiment was done at Students Instructional Farm Chandra Shekhar Azad University Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur (U.P).The study conducted to investigate competitive effects C. wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under varying irrigation regimes herbicides conditions during Rabi 2017-18 2018-19 split plot design. The laid out split-plot design with four schedule viz. CRI active tillering stage (I1), + jointing booting (I2), flowering (I3) milking (I4) were assigned main plots weed management practices W1-weedy check, W2-two hand weeding 20 40 DAS, W3-sulfosulfuron @25 g/ha , W4- pendimethalin (pre emergence) fbWCPL-15(clodinafop- propargyl 15 %) @400 W5- carfentrazone ethyl 20% sulfosulfuron 25%WG @ 100 W6- halauxafen penxasulam 23.5% 75 W7- - methyl 1.21% w/w fluroxypyr W8- clodinafop- 15% metsulfuron 1% 400 allocated sub plots. Application two irrigations (I1) significantly reduced density their fresh dry weight highest control efficiency (WCE) over CRI+ jointing+ booting+ flowering+ (I4), (I2). However, maximum yield recorded application five (I4). Among herbicidal treatments, lowest density, WCE resulted higher as post emergence (35 DAS) compared other treatments. none treatments effective twice DAS.
